Sammy McNamee

DIRECTOR & FOUNDER

Hi, I’m Sammy — the founder of Oak Pilates and Oak Getaways retreats.
My Pilates journey began back in 2012, in the USA and what started as a passion quickly grew into my life’s work.

I specialise in helping people move well, especially those dealing with discrepancies, injuries, or scoliosis. As a certified Scoliosis Practitioner, I love supporting clients to find freedom in their bodies, reduce pain, and build confidence through tailored movement.

Oak Pilates is my home base, where I work with clients 1:1 and in small groups. Oak Getaways is my way of taking that same energy abroad, creating fitness and wellness retreats that blend movement, rest, and a little adventure.

At my core, I believe movement should be joyful, accessible, and something that brings you back to yourself. And while I take your body seriously, I don’t take life too seriously — there’s always space for laughter in my sessions.
When I’m not teaching, you’ll probably find me at the beach planning your next getaway or simply just relaxing.

now head to my schedule and let’s get you moving.

Blair Evans

Pilates Instructor
Say hello to Blair, a two-time Olympian, elite swimming champion, and your new Pilates instructor. Blair discovered Pilates at the age of 15 while recovering from Osteomyelitis, resulting in arthritis in her right hip. For Blair, it was love at first leg circle – embracing this new form of movement that challenged her perception of strength and helped her correct movement patterns. She continued using Pilates to rebuild her body and keep injuries at bay as she competed worldwide in Olympic swimming.
Blair is all about the balance of body and mind. After hanging up her swimming cap, she delivered mental health education workshops all over WA before completing her Mat and Reformer qualifications and taking the leap to professional Pilates instructor. Today, we’re blessed to have this gorgeous soul (and proud dog parent) in the studio with us at Oak Pilates.

Janneke Baard

Pilates Instructor

Janneke is a certified mat and reformer Pilates instructor with a deep love for movement and community. Originally from South Africa, Janneke grew up in a small country town, which sparked her love for adventure.

You’ll often find her by the ocean, out camping, or planning her next trip. She is also currently studying Marketing, PR, and Advertising, and passionate about anything that blends creativity and connection.

Her background in competitive sports led her to discover Pilates early on, and it quickly became her go-to for building strength-not just physically, but mentally too.

Her Ethos is that Pilates is about feeling strong in your own body, building confidence, and showing up for yourself, all while being part of an encouraging, like-minded community. Janneke is bubbly, uplifting, and brings the kind of energy that makes you want to show up and level up.

Olivia Pesce

Pilates Instructor
Olivia, who prefers to be called Liv, is a determined and dynamic individual who embarked on her Pilates instructor course in 2017 while completing rehabilitation for her ACL injury. Her resilience and passion for understanding human movement and patterns guided her through her second ACL surgery and planted the seed for helping people in the functional exercise space. Liv ran her own personal training business encouraging people to move their bodies for longevity and enjoyment.
In her other life you’ll find Liv as a nurse at Perth Children’s Hospital. Liv loves staying active and enjoying the outdoors, whether it’s cycling along scenic trails, going for invigorating runs, traveling to explore new places, or relaxing at the beach. Her energy and dedication shine through in everything she does.

Emily Udiljak

Pilates Instructor

Hi, I’m Emily! I was first introduced to Pilates about eight years ago – starting out as a client and loving it so much that I eventually became an instructor. I have a holistic approach to movement and exercise, which is an extension on how I see health overall. I’m a qualified chiropractor, so I have a strong understanding of our musculoskeletal system, and I love putting that into classes that are achievable and enjoyable for everyone! I aim to keep you inspired with varied flows that challenge you in new ways and help you feel stronger and more flexible each time. I can’t wait for you to join me in my classes and be part of your Pilates journey!

Makenzie Gillett

Pilates Instructor

Hi everyone! I’m Makenzie, and I’m so excited to be your newest Pilates Instructor. I grew up in the small rural town of Bencubbin, where my family farmed grain and life was spent outdoors with my parents and three siblings. I began dancing at the age of ten after receiving a scholarship to the Toodyay Ballet School. My mum would drive me two hours each way, more than three times a week, and that’s where my love for movement really began.

When I moved to Perth for boarding school in year seven, I discovered Pilates after being diagnosed with scoliosis from years of dancing. By the time I reached the end of year twelve, after spending most of the year teaching dance, I realised how much I loved helping people move with confidence and strength. That’s when I knew I wanted to pursue a career in Pilates, and I’m so grateful to now be doing exactly that.

When I’m not teaching, you’ll usually find me down south, spending time with friends or experimenting in the kitchen. I can’t wait to move with you all!
